About ADM Notaries

The Notarial Profession is a separate branch of the legal profession.
To qualify as a Notary Public it is necessary to fulfill the criteria set out by the Faculty Office of the Archbishop of Canterbury.
This requires a knowledge of law sufficient to allow a person to successfully pass a two year Post Graduate Diploma course in Notarial Practice conducted by Cambridge University A Notary must also provide character references and swear an Oath of Allegiance and the Notarial Oath which basically says the Notary will act with probity, refusing to act where there is violence or fraud.

Notaries were originally people who took “notae”- notes of speeches and proceedings in Rome at the time of Cicero (106-43 BC). Their status is recognised worldwide and the indorsement of a document with a Notary’s signature and seal will allow acceptance of the truth of the statements it contains by foreign jurisdictions.

The Notary’s duty is to the integrity of the act he indorses with his seal, so that it might be relied on by others worldwide. This obligation distinguishes a Notary from a solicitor whose duty is solely to his or her client.

Expertise

We are experts and extremely experienced in advising about the contrasting requirements of different countries.

We will take all reasonable steps, to notarise your document in a manner and form that can reasonably be expected, to be acceptable to the overseas country, where you will ultimately submit your document.

Additionally, we will also advise you, if Foreign Office legalisation and/or consular legalisation are required by the overseas country, where you are planning to submit your document. The fundamental purpose of a document certified by a notary public is to provide legal evidence and communicate and preserve information and authority.

The certification of the notary public, as an official legal document, that can later be relied upon and recognised at law internationally, can often therefore become of significant importance.

Support

A fundamental request made of a notary public, is often to witness the signatures of parties to legal documents, all having previously been duly identified to the notary, by way of producing their passports and/or other proof of identification documents.

We offer assistance with notarisation for situations where both signatories are not physically present. In such cases, one party as a legal practitioner entering into a legal contract with the absent party living abroad, provides an electronic copy of the absent party's identification and a photograph of the absent party holding their identification document. If the absent party needs to enter into a legal contract with the present party, they must also provide a video recording of themselves signing the agreement.

We can carry out the legalisation of the contract as long as the present party is a legal practitioner based in England and entering into a contract with the other party living abroad.
